This step chest is made in Japan (not a anthique but a reproduction).
The size is smaller than Korean one, and this is not both faces chest, but crafted with great skill of Japanese craftsman.

As you can see, every corner of the chest face has black metal ornament,
and even the inside shelves are beautiful and smooth finished.
And it is amased that there's very small metal piece on the drawer's face to protect against damage by the metal handle.
